Road test preparation
Plan the next stage after G1: check G2 and G requirements, prepare your vehicle and practise within your licence conditions. This guidance does not replace an instructor or current official information and gives no fixed test routes or pass guarantees.
Official requirement cards summarize source conditions. Practice suggestions are Canluma preparation methods, not additional test rules.

Before the test
Know which test you are preparing for
G1 leads to the G2 road test; G2 leads to the G road test. New drivers normally practise with G1 for 12 months, or 8 months after an approved BDE course. The G2 learning period before G is 12 months. Check your own eligibility.

Confirm the test class, centre, licence validity and confirmation instructions before booking travel. Ask DriveTest about your individual licence history.

The examiner checks the vehicle. Defective brakes, lights, seatbelts, tires or other listed faults can prevent the test. An out-of-order appointment normally loses half the test fee; read the full checklist.

Check the current G test format
The G test includes highway driving. Until further notice, full-time centres use a modified test; Travel Points retain the standard format. Confirm the current notice for your location.
DriveTest · Road tests — carsNotice / modified G test at full-time centresReport your actual highway experience
For G, declare recent highway experience: at least five trips in the last three months on qualifying highways, plus average trip length. Do not invent trips to meet the requirement.

Within your licence conditions, practise turns, observation, intersections, parking and reversing. Ask your instructor to identify recurring mistakes rather than memorizing a fixed test route.

Use the examiner’s feedback
Review the debrief and scoresheet. Turn each weak skill into a practice goal before another test. Canluma study scores do not predict a road-test pass.

Passing G2 and passing G lead to different licence stages. Follow the centre’s instructions for your temporary licence and the card sent by mail.
